POLICE officers in Hampshire have been left furious following reports that prisoners will receive a vaccine against coronavirus before those working in policing. According to a report in Times newspaper, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has said teachers, police and other key workers should not get priority for Covid-19 jabs, but prisoners can be vaccinated at a mass rate. Zoe Wakefield, chair of Hampshire Police Federation, has told of her anger following the announcement. She said: I fully support prison officers being vaccinated alongside police officers but to put those who have assaulted, spat and bitten my colleagues ahead of us is an outrageous decision.
A furious frontline Hampshire Constabulary police officer has written an emotional letter to the Prime Minister accusing the Government of having “little to no regard for our wellbeing” following its decision to snub officers for COVID priority.
