Covid-19 close to doubling in last week in Winchester district

THE number of new cases of Covid-19 in the Winchester district week on week has nearly doubled, according to figures out today. There were 90 cases reported today bringing the number since the start of the pandemic to 3,200. In the week to January 1 the figure for Winchester district was 604, up 289, or 92 per cent on the previous week, for a rolling number of 483.7, above the UK average. The figure for the last seven days including today is 589, up from 448 in the previous seven days. Some 18 per cent of all 3,200 cases have been reported in the last seven days, showing the recent surge.

MORE than 1,300 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Hampshire in a 24-hour period. Latest data on the government website shows a total of 1,358 people were reported to have tested positive for the coronavirus up to 4pm today. There were 65 cases in Winchester district bringing the number since the start of the pandemic to 2,920. Other districts - Southampton: 234 (7,030); New Forest: 87 (3,012); Eastleigh: 80 (2,828); Fareham: 71 (2,674); Portsmouth: 183 (7,956); Test Valley: 64 (2,606); Gosport: 53 (1,893); Havant: 133 (3,961); Hart: 83 (2,288); East Hampshire: 64 (2,713); Rushmoor: 178 (3,852); Basingstoke and Deane: 63 (4,162). Coronavirus: 13 more deaths recorded across Hampshire

THIRTEEN further coronavirus deaths have been recorded across the county in the last 24 hours. Figures published by NHS England at 2pm today (December 30) reveal that 13 more people have died with coronavirus. Across the whole of Hampshire, 905 people have died with Covid-19 since the start of the health crisis in March. Nine people suffering with coronavirus have been recorded as having died at Portsmouth Hospitals Trust in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 397. A further four patients have been recorded as having died in the last 24 hours at University Hospital Southampton, bringing the total to 244. No other deaths were recorded across the county s other Trusts.

TWELVE further coronavirus deaths have been recorded across the county in the last 24 hours. Figures published by NHS England at 2pm today (December 29) reveal that 12 more people have died with coronavirus. Across the whole of Hampshire, 895 people have died with Covid-19 since the start of the health crisis in March. Nine people suffering with coronavirus have been recorded as having died at Portsmouth Hospitals Trust in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 388. One further death has been recorded at Hampshire Hospitals Trust, bringing the total up to 240 deaths since the start of the pandemic.  Two people have died at University Hospital Southampton, bringing the total to 240. 

Coronavirus: 12 deaths confirmed in Hampshire hospitals

It means a total of 885 people have died with the virus across the county. Three of the deaths came at the Hampshire Hospitals Trust, all on December 27. The University Hospital Southampton recorded one death, coming on December 25. Portsmouth Hospitals Trust recorded the other eight deaths, four each on December 27 and December 26. Since the start of the pandemic, 379 people have died with Covid-19 at Portsmouth Hospitals Trust. Across England, a further 318 people died in hospital with coronavirus. Patients were aged between 38 and 100 years all and all but 13 had underlying health conditions. The south east recorded 61 deaths.
