A Massachusetts man slid 100 feet while hiking in New Hampshire Saturday, but authorities were able to rescue him after the man injured his leg.
On Saturday, New Hampshire Fish & Game Department officials were notified around 12:45 p.m. that a hiker was hurt on the Tripyramid Trail in Waterville Valley.
The 69-year-old hiker, identified as Robert Zoletti of Needham, Massachusetts, had slid approximately 100 feet as he descended from the summit of South Tripyramid.
“During this uncontrolled descent the hiker suffered a lower leg injury that was going to prevent him from making it out without assistance,” officials said. “Hiking companions called for help and agreed that they would continue sliding the injured hiker to the base of south slide until help arrived.”
