Operation Seek and Save under way

Around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, members of one of the groups tasked with going door-to-door to gather information related to COVID-19 and dengue were spotted in Kingsland, Christ Church. Other teams were reportedly working in parts of St Michael. Operation Seek and Save is being undertaken during the February 3 to 17 National Pause, where Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has asked people to pause, reflect, refresh and renew as Government works to bring coronavirus (COVID-19) and dengue under control.

COVID cases pass 1600-mark

Social Share Twenty-five new cases of COVID-19 – nine males and 16 females – were identified out of the 504 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on February 2. Seven of the new positives were people previously sent to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility in St Lucy for assessment.  A person would be sent to Harrison Point for assessment to confirm whether their PCR test result is that of a new case or an old case. Nine more people were sent for assessment. The other 18 cases include 15 Barbadians and two non-nationals. The number of confirmed cases at Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds remains at 362.  Of this total, 355 recovered and the remaining seven inmates are included in the active cases, which to date stand at 359.

28 new cases, 37 people recover

Article by Social Share There were 28 new coronavirus (COVID-19) positive results identified on Monday, February 1, from among the 866 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. Thirty-seven people were reported to have recovered yesterday from the viral illness, and were released from isolation. There are now 366 active cases. The 28 new cases comprise 11 women and 17 men. Seven of them are people who would have been previously sent to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility for assessment. A person would be sent to Harrison Point for assessment to confirm whether his or her PCR test result is that of a new case or an old case.

Barbados records two more COVID-19 deaths

January 31, 2021 Today Barbados recorded the first double death from Covid-19 within a 24 hour period. Both deceased were patients of the Harrison Point Isolation Facility for a few days. The two Barbadians, a 55 year-old male and a 64 year-old female, died within an hour of each other this morning. Dr Corey Forde, Infectious Diseases  Specialist and the Consultant in Charge of Harrison Point, noted the similarities between the two cases. Both patients suffered from pre-existing, chronic non-communicable diseases. Both were experiencing shortness of breath for some days before seeking medical help at the Accident and Emergency Department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
