Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in May urged the Trump administration to rescind millions of dollars in COVID-19 relief funds that Harris County planned to use for mail-in ballots, as Republican state leaders and Democratic local officials were sparring over whether and how to expand voting options during the pandemic.
In a May 21 letter, Paxton alerted Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin of Harris County’s stated intent to use federal funding in violation of state law, and asked him to seek return of any amounts improperly spent on efforts to promote illegal mail-in voting.
Jenan Blank, the president and CEO of the Spring-Klein Chamber of Commerce, announced her resignation from the position via Facebook on Dec. 21.
Blank was first named to the position Feb. 20, 2019, following the resignation of former President and CEO Brooks Williams. Prior to her appointment, Blank served as the chamber s executive vice president. This has been a truly hard year for all businesses in [the] Spring-Klein area including the Chamber, Blank wrote in a statement on the Chamber s Facebook page. During this time my family has done a lot of reflecting and [I] have come to the decision that I need to be more available for my family at this time.
