Attorney and former judge Jay Karahan has known Dr. Steven Hotze since the 1990s. And for just as long, he’s had firsthand experience of Hotze’s influence in Harris County politics.
The two had begun interacting in 1996, when Karahan was running for office and seeking Hotze’s endorsement.
“As I was moving up in Republican politics back then, it was made very clear to me that a Republican would not be able to become a judge unless they had Steven Hotze s approval and blessing, if you will,” Karahan said.

The Houston Police Department will provide an increased presence around city hall and other sensitive sites across the city, after an attack on the U.S. Capitol from an extremist mob of Trump supporters that local officials condemned as a “disgrace.”
City officials say while there are not credible threats in Houston, they are working with state and federal partners to ensure the safety of Houstonians due to yesterday s events. It was a national disgrace, and an international embarrassment, Mayor Sylvester Turner said Thursday.

As deadly riots unfolded, Congress members were taken to safe locations where they later took to social media to express themselves about the recent events taking place in Washington D.C. Some of those elected leaders in the building tweeting about their experience including Texas lawmakers.
Angry supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday in a chaotic protest aimed at thwarting a peaceful transfer of power, forcing lawmakers to be rushed from the building and interrupting challenges to Joe Biden s Electoral College victory. Trump issued a restrained call for peace and called for his supporters to go home.

A new report shows each and every interaction that police had with enraged voters, disgruntled poll workers and errant election judges during the 2020 election in Harris County.
The Precinct 1 Constable s Office led the Harris County Election Security Task Force, a small unit comprised of deputies, county lawyers, prosecutors and election clerks that monitored polls during early voting and on Election Day.
Friday s report details 77 interactions between deputies and the public that related to anything elections: From damaged campaign signs to allegations of voter fraud, the report tells all.
