Houston repair shop allegedly made negligent repairs, modifications to vehicle

shutterstock.com HOUSTON A man is suing a Houston auto repair shop alleging they made negligent modifications and repairs to his vehicle and failed to inform him about his vehicle s status and location.  Abel Yzaguirre filed a complaint July 12 in Harris County District Court against U Do It Auto alleging negligence and violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and other claims.  Yzaguirre claims in his suit that he took his 2013 Ford F150 to the U Do It Shop for an engine rebuild on Sept. 29, 2020, and paid $7,772 up front. He alleges that for six months, he visited the shop multiple times for a status update and found his vehicle was no longer in possession of U Do It Auto and after filing a police report, the car was returned to the shop. 

Woman claims store failed to warn of wet paint that caused fall, sues for $1M

HOUSTON A woman claims a Houston store failed to warn of wet paint on the sidewalk entrance which caused her to fall and suffer serious injuries.  Delores Delaguila filed a complaint July 12 in Harris County District Court against Avenue Stores LLC, Stream Realty Partners LP and Stream Realty Partners Houston LP alleging negligence. Delaguila was a customer at the Avenues Store managed by the defendants on FM 1960 Road in Houston on Aug. 6, 2019, according to her complaint. She claims that as she walked toward the entrance of the store, she stepped on wet paint on the sidewalk. Delaguila alleges her shoes became stuck which caused her to fall forward and hit her face and body on the asphalt and suffer serious injuries. She claims the defendants negligence for not having any warning signs posted in the area and for creating the dangerous condition which posed an unreasonable risk of harm. 

Woman missed a step and fell at Texas Saloon Bar, sues for $1M

HOUSTON A woman who fell at the Texas Saloon in Humble while walking to the bathroom is claiming negligence.  Rachel Meza filed a complaint July 13 in Harris County District Court against 2 YS Ranch Inc., doing business as Texas Saloon Bar alleging premises liability.  Meza alleges in her complaint that she was at the Texas Saloon on Atascocita Road in Humble on July 20, 2019. She claims that as she was walking to the bathroom in the saloon, she missed a step and suddenly fell and suffered injuries.  Meza alleges that the defendant failed to inspect its premises or fix the dangerous condition. She also alleges the defendants failed to warn about the hazard which led to her injuries and caused her to suffer pain, impairment, mental anguish and to incur medical expenses. 

Cook suffers second degree burns at Houston restaurant, suit claims

HOUSTON A restaurant cook who suffered second degree burns after tripping on a bag on the floor while carrying a hot pot of water is claiming negligence.  Vivian Akuchie filed a complaint July 10 in Harris County District Court against Bolanle Toyin Strange Adeyemi doing business as Grains & Solid LLC also known as Amala On Point alleging negligence.  Akuchie was working as a temporary cook on July 29, 2019, at its restaurant on Beechnut Street in Houston. She alleges that she and a staffer were lifting a hot pot of water from the stove when defendant Bola or her agent, dropped a bag of raw beef behind her. Akuchie claims she stumbled onto the bag of beef while lifting the hot pot which caused the water to spill on her arm and other parts of her body.
