$1M suit alleges man suffered broken hip after fall at Houston s Millennium Tower

HOUSTON A man claims his foot became caught on uneven concrete pads at the Millennium Tower in Houston and caused him to suffer a broken hip and other serious injuries.  Charles Leyendecker filed a complaint March 8 in Harris County District Court against Woodbranch Management Inc., and Millennium-Windfall Partners LTD alleging negligence and premises liability.  Leyendecker alleges in his complaint that on Jan. 18, 2021, he was entering Millennium Tower on Richmond Avenue in Houston. He claims there was a misalignment between two concrete pads on the walkway that his foot got caught in which caused him to loose his balance.  Leyendecker alleges he careened into reinforced glass and broke his hip and splintered a bone in his arm and had to receive extensive medical treatment. 

Woman sues her Houston apartment complex after alleged fall on broken step

HOUSTON A woman is suing the owners of her Houston apartment complex after she suffered injuries from allegedly falling on a broken wooden step.  Nichelle Maxiey filed a complaint March 8 in Harris County District Court against Hidalgo Investments LLC alleging negligence.  Maxiey alleges in her suit that on on Sept. 7, 2020, she was walking up the outside stairs at her apartment complex on Culberson Steet in Houston, and fell after one of the wooden steps broke. She claims the fall caused her to suffer serious and extensive injuries to her knee, hip, neck, back and hand.  Maxiey alleges that she had no alternate way of reaching her apartment except to use the stairs and that the defendants left the stairs in a dangerous condition, and failed to warn or correct the hazard. She further alleges the defendants failed to inspect their premises and keep the premises in a reasonably safe condition. 

Woman sues Houston Metro Transit Authority after allegedly slipping on bus

HOUSTON A woman is suing the Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority claiming she slipped and fell on one of the buses and suffered injuries.  Doris Martinez filed a complaint  March 8 in Harris County District Court against Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority alleging negligence and premises liability.  According to her complaint, Martinez was a passenger on a Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority bus on Sept. 11, 2020. She alleges that while walking down the aisle of the bus, she slipped on an unknown substance, fell backwards and suffered injuries to her upper and lower back as well as her knee.  Martinez claims the Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority was negligent for creating the hazardous condition that caused her fall, failing to clean up the floor of the bus and failing to warn of the hazard. She also claims the Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority failed to monitor the floor of the bus or properly train its employees and implement adequate safety procedure

Houston couple alleges plumber s negligence led to water, mold damage

Plumbing | Pixabay HOUSTON A Houston couple claims their home suffered major water and mold damage due to the negligence of a plumbing and excavating company.  Carlton Palmer and Brenda Oliver Bagley filed a complaint  March 8 in Harris County District Court against American Residential Services, ARS Intermediate Holdings LLC, Michael Palomo doing business as Palomo Services and Michael Palomo alleging breach of contract, breach of implied warranty of good and workmanlike manner, breach of implied warranty, violation of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act and negligence.  According to the plaintiffs complaint, Carlton Palmer requested the plumbing services of ARS Rescue Rooter on March 9, 2019, after water overflowed from a toilet and had entered into the hallway and bedrooms of their home located on Ridgehaven Drive in Houston. They allege that an  ARS employee told them there was a sewer line break and gave them a $7,466 estimate to repair the main

Bouncing tires from cement truck crossed several lanes before crushing vehicle, $2 5 million suit alleges

Dao HOUSTON – A recently filed lawsuit alleges tires from a Mack cement truck broke free and crossed several lanes of traffic, and even skipped over a highway median, before crushing part of a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. Seeking $2.5 million in damages, Vicheth Srou filed suit against Apple Towing, Eric Ruiz and Alexis Reyes in Harris County District Court. According to the lawsuit, on March 1 Ruiz was towing Reyes’ large Mack cement truck. As Ruiz was traveling southbound on SH-228, the left set of tandem wheels entirely separated from the cement truck.  “They bounced across numerous lanes, and across the median of SH-288, before colliding with, and crushing part of (Srou’s) vehicle, which was traveling northbound on SH-288,” the suit states.
