HOUSTON – A 26-year-old Houston man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for shooting a grandmother to death at an apartment complex in north Houston, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced Monday.
James Johnson was convicted of murder after officials said he shot 42-year-old Ladisha Robinson in the head as she tried to flee from him on May 31, 2018.
“This man fired a pistol into a car full of people, including babies, with no regard for human life,” Ogg said. “Ms. Robinson’s family will never see her smile or hear her laugh ever again because this man got angry and decided to use a gun to get even.”

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas A man was sentenced to 40 years in prison after he was convicted of shooting and killing a grandmother when he opened fire on a car full of people, including young children.
According to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, James Johnson, 26, was sentenced late Friday after being convicted by the jury of murder for shooting Ladisha Robinson, 42, in the head as she tried to get away from Johnson.
“Ms. Robinson’s family will never see her smile or hear her laugh ever again because this man got angry and decided to use a gun to get even,” Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said.
The man suspected of fatally shooting a 17-year-old who was a passenger in a vehicle on the way home from a Houston Astros baseball game last month has surrendered to authorities, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said Monday.
Gerald Wayne Williams, 34, is charged with felony murder in the July 6 shooting death of 17-year-old David Castro, according to a criminal complaint. Authorities had deemed the shooting a road rage incident, CNN previously reported.
Paul Castro told CNN he was driving his two sons home from the baseball game when his son David was shot inside their pickup truck. He died two days later.

Houston - Texas Medical Center hospitals are reporting a dramatic rise in COVID-19 patients over the last month. We have about 600 people hospitalized across our system, said David Callender, CEO for Memorial Hermann Health System. That’s compared to about 100 on the first of July.
Memorial Hermann is the latest Houston hospital to issue a COVID-19 vaccine mandate. All Memorial Hermann employees will be required to get vaccinated for COVID-19 by early October. Now is the right time to do that considering the progressive nature of the Delta variant, said Callender.
