A former Indiana Area School District teacher was arrested Thursday on charges he sexually assaulted a teenager on multiple occasions beginning in 2009.
Indiana Borough Police Chief Justin Schawl said officers, working with the district attorney’s office, filed charges of corruption of minors, indecent assault on a person under 16 years old and statutory sexual assault against Patrick J. McKee, 60, of Indiana.
McKee, who retired as an elementary teacher in June, was ordered held in the county jail after failing to post $150,000 bond pending a preliminary hearing Jan. 21.

Whitley County prosecutor D.J. Sigler has cleared Huntington police officers for the officer-involved shooting that took place on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, after a disturbance took place on Schultz Drive.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. that day, officers responded to a disturbance call in the 100 block of Schultz Drive on the southwest side of Huntington.
The suspect, who would later be identified as 36-year-old Matthew T. Melzoni, of Wabash, was said to have been operating a backhoe, destroying property around the neighborhood. This property included sections of Horace Mann Elementary and Riverview Middle School. A brief security footage section showed Melzoni operating the backhoe on the property. It also showed “officers trying to get him out and down,” Sigler said.

Only one Indiana County school district reported a new case of coronavirus infection yesterday. The Indiana Area School District says a staff member at the Senior High School tested positive over the weekend.
It’s the first case at the Senior High under the rolling 14-day count, so the district will be able to keep the school open.
As of yesterday morning, Indiana Area had only that one case at the Senior High, and another case previously reported at the Horace Mann Elementary School.

Stanley J. Bezek Jr., MD, of Ely, Minn., and Oro Valley, Ariz., (formerly of Virginia, Minn.), passed away on Dec. 10, 2020, at home, with family by his side after two years of treatment for pancreatic cancer.

After graduating from St. Johnâs University in three years, he graduated from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed his Family Medicine residency at Cleveland Metro General Hospital and the University of Colorado Medical Center. He became board certified in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine.
