ROCKY HILL, Conn. An East Haven man is facing charges following accusations that he illegally collected Workers’ Compensation.
35-year-old Gregory Brunson was a juvenile detention officer assigned to the Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center when he claimed to have injured his back while attempting to restrain a detainee, officials said.
According to a release, a doctor placed Brunson on Temporary Total Disability (TTD) meaning he was considered to have zero work capacity and could not earn any outside wages without reporting it.
Officials say he received $12,459.25 in TTD benefits and $1284.31 in medical costs from August 24, 2019 to December 29, 2019.

Miguel Rivera of Holyoke charged with Enfield sexual assault on 13-year-old girl

ENFIELD - A 47-year-old Holyoke man is facing multiple charges Connecticut following his arrest last week in Enfield in connection with the reported sexual assault on 13-year-old girl.
Miguel Rivera is charged with illegal sexual assault on a person under age 16, fourth-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a child, and making threats.
Rivera was arrested Thursday in Enfield following an investigation by Enfield police into a reported sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl. The girl reported the assault while being treated at the hospital.
Police Chief Alaric Fox in a statement to the press said that Rivera was acquainted with the girl’s family. In addition to the sexual assault charges, Rivera is charged with threatening to harm her family if she told anyone what happened.
A Canton resident and victim services advocate at the Hartford Superior Court was arrested Friday and charged with the distribution of child pornography via social media.
Officials said Robert Eccleston, 56, used the social media application Kik, a messaging app, to distribute numerous pornographic images and videos of children â including those that depicted the sexual abuse of toddlers and prepubescent children â under the username âhartfordctguy.â This activity took place in August and September.
According to court documents, FBI personnel in two different field offices outside of Connecticut have been covertly monitoring various public groups on Kik, including the ones that Eccleston was active in.
