Bridgeport The owners of Noank Shipyard and Seaport Marine in Mystic have announced they are investing $8 million in their Bridgeport Boatworks operation and have signed a long-term contract to run a vessel maintenance facility to serve the Hornblower Group, a firm that runs ferries in New York City and across North America and the United Kingdom.
Harry Boardsen, owner of Bridgeport Boatworks, said Wednesday that he plans to add a 700-ton travel lift at the 16-acre shipyard to service the Hornblower fleet and future clients. He said Hornblower plans to add 40 to 60 jobs at the boatyard, while his firm will grow its workforce by another 30 employees.

First concerts announced for New Haven s Westville Music Bowl

After the pandemic forced the venue to delay its opening, the Westville Music Bowl in New Haven has announced its first-ever socially-distanced concerts.
The former home of the Connecticut Tennis Center announced that jam band icons Gov t Mule will perform at the venue on April 30 and May 1.
Warren Haynes, band leader for the group, previously sold out his residency at South Farms in Morris last fall. These will be the band s first shows since January 2020, according to a press release.

BRIDGEPORT Next weekend roughly around the time the state marks a year since the COVID-19 pandemic struck comedian Vinnie Brand is scheduled to perform at his downtown Stress Factory club/restaurant for a few nights.
The stand-up funny man’s business was shuttered for five months because of the health crisis, re-opening last August. Brand has been able to continue to draw live acts and an audience while operating under the strict crowd limitations and other health guidelines required by Gov. Ned Lamont.
