March 8, 2021 By Mike Kruzman / news@whmi.com Future land use map amendments to six areas in Hartland Township are moving closer to final approval. The Board of Trustees gave their first approval of the amendments during their online meeting last week. Planning Director Troy Langer laid out the work done by the Planning Commission to this point, which took into consideration both a residential market assessment and a retail market assessment. Using these, 6 areas were targeted for changes on the map which serves as a visual aid to how the township would like to plan and develop in the future.

Detroit Lions Ford Field becomes a COVID-19 vaccine clinic

By Mike Householder The Associated Press DETROIT The domed home of the Detroit Lions on Monday welcomed educators and school staff from southeast Michigan for a COVID-19 vaccine clinic.  Although Ford Field can accommodate tens of thousands of fans on NFL Sunday, it hosted considerably fewer during the event, albeit with much higher stakes.  Retailer Meijer and the Michigan Education Special Services Association worked together to identify and schedule 2,600 educational employees still needing the vaccine. The Ford Field event was pre-registration only and at capacity.  Kevin Woodard said it only took him about a half-hour to get the vaccine, something the 44-year-old substitute teacher from the Detroit suburb of Walled Lake, said he was thrilled to finally do.

From USA TODAY Network and wire reports Alabama Tuscaloosa: Students across the three-campus University of Alabama System will return to in-person instruction for the fall semester with no limits on class size in Birmingham, Huntsville or Tuscaloosa to guard against COVID-19, officials said Monday. The system, which has held classes in multiple formats since the pandemic began a year ago, said in a statement that current models show it should be safe to resume traditional teaching after the summer break. Millions more should have been vaccinated against the disease by then.
