President Biden s executive order requiring face coverings on commercial air travel, based on a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) notice, is designed to reduce the spread of COVID-19 within the nation s air transportation system.
Asymptomatic transmission accounts for over one-half of all new infections. Face coverings provide the best method to reduce such transmissions, particularly when physical distancing is infeasible. Unfortunately, Biden s order is unnecessary and may make air travel less secure.
Airlines have been requiring passengers to wear face covering for several months. Those who have defy such requirements are placed on no-fly lists, now totaling over 2,700 people. The new order mandates face coverings in all areas of the air system, including airp
Frontier Airways plans to establish crew bases in Tampa and Atlanta this year.
Frontier Airlines will open a crew base at Tampa airport in May. The carrier anticipates basing approximately 400 flight attendants and pilots in the city by the end of the year.
The discount airline also said it intends to open a crew base at Atlanta s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport late this year. Both markets have become increasingly important destinations for Frontier with anticipated growth in routes in and out of those cities during the course of 2021, Frontier said.
According to Cirium data, Frontier is scheduled to fly 11 routes from Tampa this month, compared with 17 routes last February. From Atlanta, Frontier has six routes scheduled this month, down from 15 last February.
