3 charged in Harnett businessman s shooting death

LILLINGTON Three people have been charged in the shooting death of a Bunnlevel businessman, the Harnett County Sheriff s Office said Thursday. Charles Edward Bias, 51, of McLean Chapel Church Road in Bunnlevel, was shot to death at his business in the 6800 block of U.S. 401 South in Bunnlevel just after 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Harnett County Sheriff s Office news release. He was found with what deputies say appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds, according to the release. Courtney Carroll, 31, of the 100 block of Cynthia Lane in Spring Lake,  was arrested Wednesday; Jeremy Campbell, 28, of the 100 block of Ranger Lane in Spring Lake and Jordan Issac Nathaniel Stone, 20, of East Blue Street in Saint Pauls, were arrested Thursday, according to a Sheriff s Office news release.

Christmas in jail Cumberland, Harnett, Hoke, Moore counties

Here s how detention centers in the Sandhills region will celebrate Christmas this year. In Cumberland County, inmates can visit with family through an online system. Because of COVID-19, they are given complimentary five-minute phone calls each week, according to Sgt. Patrice Bogertey, a spokeswoman with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.  Each of the 441 inmates will receive a care package during the holidays. The packages are funded through the inmate welfare fund and include snacks, Bogertey said. At the Hoke County Detention Center, visitations are online-only due to COVID-19 restrictions. Phone calls are considered recreation time, which allows an inmate to talk for up to an hour.

Officers responded to the hospital and to the 100 block of Sawyer Circle, according to the statement. Jaquaris Lemon Hines, of Fayetteville, was arrested and charged with murder in the death of Jaylen, the release said. He remains in the Harnett County Detention Center without bail, and his next court date is scheduled for Jan. 19. Fayetteville man charged with murder of 4-year-old in Harnett County

DUNN A Fayetteville man has been arrested and accused of murder in the death of a Dunn 4-year-old, according to Dunn police.   Police arrested Jaquaris Lemont Harris, 20, on Monday and charged him with murder, according to a news release from the Dunn Police Department.   Police were notified by hospital staff at Betsy Johnson Hospital about the possibility of child abuse after the child died Saturday, according to the release.   Police responded to the hospital and to the 100 block of Sawyer Circle, according to the statement.   Harris is at the Harnett County Detention Center without bail.  Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call Investigators Matthew Matos or Matthew Norris at 910-892-2399.
