Mom of alleged Cape Fear Christian Academy student victim speaks out

Attorneys and an alleged victim s mother are speaking out after new charges were filed against a former Harnett County school employee accused of sex crimes involving students.  Tammy Moran, 45, of Cottle Lake Drive in Coats, was first charged March 19 with three counts of sexual activity by a substitute parent/custodian, according to the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office.  Moran was the chief financial officer at Cape Fear Christian Academy and she offered boarding to students whose families lived elsewhere.   According to a March statement from the school, Moran was dismissed from her position the same day she was arrested.  New charges against Moran were filed April 22, which include an additional count of sexual activity with a student and one count of embezzlement.

LILLINGTON A woman was killed Saturday in a house fire on N.C. 210, a news release from the Harnett County Sheriff s Office states. Doris Chisum, 68, died in the 9:30 a.m. fire at her home at 11983 N.C. 210 S. in Harnett County, though the home has a Spring Lake postal address. According to the release, her brother, who also lived there, said he was working outside when he heard the smoke detectors going off.  (He) attempted to enter the residence but the fire and smoke prevented him from reaching his sister, the release said. The fire was in the bedroom where Chisum was trapped, according to the release.

North Carolina Man Pleads Guilty to Production of Child Pornography Raleigh, North Carolina - A North Carolina man pleaded guilty Monday to production of child pornography.  According to statements made in connection with his plea, when allegations of child pornography came to light, Raul Ayala Jr., 72, of Harnett County, was interviewed by the Fuquay-Varina Police Department and admitted to molesting a prepubescent minor victim, as well as other victims as far back as the 1970s. A search warrant was thereafter executed at Ayala’s residence in Angier and multiple digital devices were seized. The devices contained numerous images and videos of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). In addition, the police found a briefcase in Ayala’s attic, suspended by a pulley system, that contained CSAM and Polaroid pictures of nude minor children, dating back to the late 1960s and early 1970s. Harnett, Cumberland county men charged in death by distribution cases

LILLINGTON Three men from Harnett County and one each from Lee and Cumberland counties have been charged recently in overdose deaths related to drugs they allegedly sold, according to the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office. William Michael Hall, 34, of Milton Street in Spring Lake, was arrested March 30 on a charge of death by distribution. His bail was set at $250,000 secured. Shelton Dmario Newby, 29, of Edgewater Drive in Broadway, was arrested March 30 on a charge of death by distribution. His bail was set at $150,000 secured. Jawuan Antoine Newsuan, 23, of Kathleen Terrace in the Harnett County portion of Sanford, was arrested April 20 on charges of death by distribution, possession with intent to sell/deliver heroin and maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance. His bail was set at $250,000 secured.
