In September, when the most recent sexual misconduct allegations against the late Ravi Zacharias surfaced, HarperCollins Christian Publishing immediately suspended all projects and shipments of his work. Following the findings in the independent report, the company will immediately take all his publications out of print. HarperCollins Christian Publishing and HarperCollins Focus announced leaders of a newly created sales team which will put a focus on independent retail channels. LaTasha Estelle and Shawn LeBar will jointly lead management of HCCP and HCF’s Christian-based independent retail accounts and general market, otherwise known as ABA (American Booksellers Association) bookstores.
“We must be able to accommodate the needs of our retail channels in unique ways, ensuring that we are tailoring how we communicate and present titles,” Van Gorp said in a statement. “The consumer experience at a Christian indie bookstore is very different from a general market indie.”

Kate Johnson has been appointed senior v-p of direct to consumer business for HarperCollins Christian Publishing and HarperCollins Focus.
Johnson will start at HCCP December 21 and will be responsible for leading and expanding the company s strategy for the direct-to-consumer businesses, which HHCP said, includes e-commerce stores, online communities, native apps, and subscription-based platforms. She will be based in Nashville, and will work closely with HCCP and HCF s parent company HarperCollins Publishers to form a strategy that aligns with that of the global corporation s.
