Mississippi governor nominates 2 to state Board of Education
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves has nominated two people to fill vacancies on the state Board of Education.
The governor’s office announced Tuesday that Reeves has chosen Angela Bass of Jackson and Glenn East of Gulfport.
Bass is nominated for a seat reserved for someone from the state’s central Supreme Court district. She is executive director of the Mississippi Early Learning Alliance. Bass studied education policy and management at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She taught in the Tunica and DeSoto County schools and worked as an administrator at a charter school, the KIPP Memphis Collegiate High.
LOS LUNAS â From 12 to three.
The Los Lunas Schools Board of Education finalized its shortlist of candidates for the superintendent position on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
The three remaining candidates â Ron Hendrix, Dr. Arsenio Romero and Katarina Sandoval â will come before the board on Monday, Dec. 14, in an executive session for a second interview before a new superintendent is chosen.
There will be two special meetings on Monday, however. At 9 a.m., the board will meet to approve questions for the candidates for superintendent before interviewing them in a closed session. Later that day, at 5:30 p.m., the board will vote to appoint a new superintendent.
