(Getty Images) The report also said there are credible international reports suggesting that Chinese officials are harvesting body organs from some of the people they persecute. Chinese authorities continued to harass, detain, and torture underground Catholic bishops such as Cui Tai and Huang Jintong who refuse to join the state-backed Catholic association, reads the USCIRF report.   (Getty Images) They also harassed, detained, arrested, and imprisoned members of Protestant house churches who refuse to join the state-sanctioned Three-Self Patriotic Movement, said the commission.   In April, authorities arrested and charged house church pastor Zhao Huaiguo for inciting subversion of state power,  and in October, local authorities in Taizhou city, Zhejiang Province, sentenced Christian bookseller Chen Yu to seven years in prison and fined him roughly $30,000 USD for illegal business operations.

SUPREME COURT NOTEBOOK: Justice Thomas remembers rapid RBG - New Delhi Times - India s Only International Newspaper

May 20, 2021 Share WASHINGTON In her last years on the Supreme Court, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg moved slowly. She was always the last justice to exit the courtroom, with Justice Clarence Thomas helping her down the steps from the Supreme Court bench. But Ginsburg, who died in September at age 87, was known for her speed at something: writing opinions. In a new, short remembrance for The Supreme Court Historical Society, Thomas says Ginsburg’s “efficiency became a source of humorous banter as well as a thing of legend” among her colleagues. Ginsburg described herself as “Rapid Ruth” when it came to opinion writing. And because she was so fast in writing her own opinions and so speedy in responding to draft opinions circulated by colleagues, other justices always got back to her as quickly as possible, said Thomas, who served with Ginsburg longer than any other justice.
