Cocagne, N B man arrested for allegedly stealing from community mailboxes

  HALIFAX A 26-year-old man from Cocagne, New Brunswick is facing charges after a rash of thefts from Canada Post mailboxes in the community. On Feb. 12, New Brunswick RCMP’s Southeast District Crime Reduction Unit started an investigation after receiving a report of damage to a community mailbox and stolen mail. Police say more than 50 complaints were received from 16 communities including Saint-Antoine, Notre-Dame, Grande-Digue, Upper Coverdale and Sainte-Marie-de-Kent. On March 11, a 26-year-old man was arrested after police executed a search warrant at a residence and a vehicle in Cocagne and seized stolen mail and other related items. The 26-year-old man was released on conditions and is scheduled to return to court on July 16.

Police searching for pick-up truck driver involved in Lower Sackville hit-and-run

  HALIFAX Halifax District RCMP are asking for the public’s help to identify the driver of an older model silver Ford Ranger pickup truck involved in a hit-and-run collision in Lower Sackville just before 9 p.m. on Sunday. Police say at approximately 9 p.m. on March 14, officers were dispatched to a collision at the intersection of Sackville Drive and Beaver Bank Road. Police say the victim’s vehicle was stopped at a red light when it was rear-ended by the suspect’s vehicle, which then backed up and fled onto Douglas Avenue. The collision caused damage to the victim’s vehicle but there were no reported injuries.
