A 600-pound seal was found alive in Dartmouth s Shubie Park on Saturday morning.
Just after 8 a.m., Halifax Regional Police was called to the off-leash area parking lot near 38 Locks Rd. after a person found the seal sitting on the pavement.
Police closed sections of the area as it was in close proximity to people and other animals.
Before 2:30 p.m., the seal was safely sedated and loaded onto a transport vehicle. The seal was safely transported back to and reunited with the ocean, an HRP news release says.
HRP, HRM Fire, EHS, Marine Animal Rescue Society, Hope for Wildlife and Department of Fisheries all helped save the animal.
