HALIFAX Police have charged a Halifax man with weapons and impaired driving offences after he fled the police over the weekend. Halifax Regional Police arrested Andrew Jason Hudder, 34, after officers responded to a suspicious vehicle and possible impaired driver in a parking lot on Kearney Lake Road Halifax around 11:10 a.m. on April 17. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, a gray Jetta. Police say when they requested the driver exit the vehicle to provide a breath sample, the driver fled at a high rate of speed toward Highway 102. Police pursued the Jetta with emergency equipment activated. Police say the Jetta crashed into a guardrail as it turned onto the ramp to the Highway 102. Officers conducted a high-risk arrest of the driver. No one was injured during the incident.

HALIFAX A 55-year-old Halifax man has been charged with dangerous driving and fleeing police after an incident in Halifax on Wednesday. Around 12:10 p.m., police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 102 inbound. According to officers, the vehicle was travelling 140 km/h in a 100 km/h speed zone. Police say the vehicle exited the highway and turned onto Dunbrack Street, where he continued to speed at 140km/h in an 80 km/h zone. When police turned on their emergency lights, the vehicle then sped up to 170 km/h. Police say they stopped pursuing the vehicle due to the location and potential danger to the public.
HALIFAX Halifax Regional Police have charged a man with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a man in the city’s south end. On Dec. 8, police responded to a rooming house at 5578 Morris St. for what was originally called a weapons complaint. Police say when they arrived, they found two men with serious injuries in the building. They were both taken to hospital. Later in the day, police revealed that one of the men had died in what they considered to be a suspicious death. On Thursday, police ruled the case a homicide and identified the victim as 61-year-old Donald Scott McKay of Halifax.
HALIFAX A 50-year-old Halifax man is facing charges of breaking and entering and assault in connection with a November break-in at an apartment in Halifax s south end. Police say on Nov. 19, they responded to a break and enter in progress in the 1500 block of South Park St. in Halifax. They say a woman heard noise in her apartment, went to investigate, then found a man in the entryway. Police say the man fled when the woman confronted him. On Saturday, police arrested 50-year-old Arlen Duane Whitty of Halifax after receiving a tip from the public. Whitty appeared in Halifax Provincial Court on Monday to face charges of breaking and entering and assault.
