HKPR District Health Unit reporting 3 new COVID-19 cases in the health unit region today

Brighton, Ontario, Canada / Brighton Today.ca Dec 30, 2020 2:03 PM The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge (HKPR) District Health Unit is reporting three new COVID-19 cases in the health unit region as of today (Dec 30): 1 in Northumberland County and 2 in Kawartha Lakes. Meanwhile, the province is reporting more than 2,900 new COVID-19 cases today (Wednesday,) with more than 39,000 tests completed. Health Minister Christine Elliott tweeted this morning, that the new cases include: 998 in Toronto, 441 in Peel, 408 in York region, 158 in Durham and 144 in Windsor-Essex County. In Northumberland, that brings the active caseload to 14, with 163 high risk contacts, meaning 163 people have recently been in close contact with someone who went on to test positive for the novel coronavirus.

This brings Northumberland’s active caseload to 19, with 159 high risk contacts, meaning 159 people have recently been in close contact with someone who went on to test positive for the novel coronavirus. There are currently seven hospitalizations due to COVID-19, and the death toll in Northumberland sits at two. According to the HKPR District Health Unit that brings the total number of confirmed cases in our health unit region to 505 since the start of the pandemic.
