NBC DUMPS GOLDEN GLOBES FOR NEXT YEAR
NEW YORK (AP) NBC has pulled the plug on the Golden Globes. And it looks like much of Hollywood is doing the same. The network says it won’t carry next year’s awards put on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The move by NBC comes as the HFPA faces mounting pressure to diversify. Just before this year’s awards, it came out that the organization didn’t have a single Black person on the panel that chooses its honors. That led to the awkward scene of having hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler call the group out at the start of the broadcast. Later, some members of the HFPA board came on to apologize for its racial shortcomings and vow to do better.
