After weeks of negotiations and hearings before a U. S. Bankruptcy Court, the city of Pharr announced Tuesday the acquisition of a former EMS company to create the city’s first-ever EMS department.
At a hearing on Monday, Judge David R. Jones issued a verbal ruling for the city to purchase all of the assets of Hidalgo County EMS for $1 million.
The city was the sole bidder to purchase the assets, which included 98 ambulances, air ambulance services, existing contracts, all EMS equipment, monitors, phones and radios, according to a news release from the city.

The city of Donna will host two COVID-19 vaccine clinics from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 23, at Donna High School, located at 2301 Wood Avenue.
According to a Tuesday news release, the first dose clinic is open to anyone over 18 on a first-come, first-serve basis; registration is not required.
Officials ask that residents fill out the COVID-19 Pre-Screening forms and take them to the clinic.
The second dose clinic is for individuals who received their first dose of the Moderna vaccine on Thursday, March 25, at Dona High School.

The city of Mission will host two COVID-19 community vaccine clinics on Wednesday, April 21, and Saturday, April 24, at the Mission Event Center located at 2425 Ruby Red Boulevard.
Wednesday’s Vaccination Clinic - First Dose Only:
On Wednesday, April 21, the Hidalgo County Health Department will administer first dose Moderna COVID-19 vaccines from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Mission Event Center. The vaccines will be on a first-come, first-serve basis; pre-registration is not required.

No registration is required for a first-dose COVID-19 vaccination clinic set for Wednesday, April 21 in the city of Hidalgo.
The clinic will be held at Hidalgo High School - located at 910 East Pirate Drive in Hidalgo – and will from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
First-doses of the Moderna vaccine will be administered to those 18 years and older at the clinic, according to a news release from the county. The clinic is first come, first serve and was made possible through a partnership with Hidalgo County Precinct 2, the city of Hidalgo and Hidalgo ISD.
