Basic materials shares rise

Basic materials stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index rising 75.63 points or 1.82% at 4229.92 at 09:48 IST. Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Neogen Chemicals Ltd (up 10.43%), Jindal Stainless Ltd (up 7.7%),GHCL Ltd (up 7.07%),Tata Steel BSL Ltd (up 6.55%),National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 6.43%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Gujarat Fluorochemicals Ltd (up 5.79%), Tata Steel Ltd (up 5.32%), Tata Metaliks Ltd (up 4.98%), Tamil Nadu Newsprint & Papers Ltd (up 4.91%), and Polyplex Corporation Ltd (up 4.76%). On the other hand, Gravita India Ltd (down 4.36%), Hindustan Copper Ltd (down 3.69%), and National Fertilizer Ltd (down 2.94%) moved lower.
