Efforts are on to bring the major fire under control. The local administration has rushed fire tenders to douse the fire. The cause of the fire is not known. Other details are awaited.
Workers at the HPCL unit have been moved out of the plant.

VISAKHAPATNAM: A major fire broke out in the Visakha refinery of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) here on Tuesday. According to local residents, there were a couple of blasts before the fire broke out. A huge column of smoke was billowing out from the plant.
According to information reaching here, the fire broke out in the old terminal of the refinery. There were about 100 personnel on duty when the incident occurred around 3.15 pm.

Visakhapatnam: A major fire broke out at the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited plant in Andhra Pradesh s Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, but was doused later, the company said in a statement. A fire incident occurred in one of the crude processing units of HPCL’s Visakh Refinery at 3pm on 25th May 2021. Safety measures & firefighting was activated immediately. The fire has been extingushed. There is no casualty & no risk to Public. Other Refinery operations are normal, the statement added.

Visakhapatnam, May 25 : The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) stated on Tuesday that the fire which broke out at its Vizag plant has been brought under control.
It also clarified that there are no casualties in the mishap that occurred at around 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
HPCL tweeted, A fire incident has occurred at one of the crude distilleries of HPCL s Visakha Refinery at 3 pm on 25th May 2021. Safety measures and firefighting was activated. The fire has been extinguished. There is no casualty or risk to public. Other refinery operations are normal.
