The response is particularly poor in slums where the civic officials are offering freebies to people to cooperate with them in making the drive successful. At Dharavi, the BMC is offering a soap, a Tetra Pak of juice and a water bottle to each of those coming forward for vaccination. The G North assistant commissioner Kiran Dighavkar has set a target of vaccinating at least 1,000 slum dwellers a day, but despite offering the incentives, the centre is not able to complete its daily target.
