Nandita Vijay, Bengaluru In a major effort to sustain the nutrition levels in students from classes 1 to 8, Akshaya Patra embarked on protein and mineral-vitamin infusion drive where it provided the much-needed nourishment to young children through its Happiness kits.
The Happiness kit distribution began in August and the price of each kit is Rs. 550. The kits contain Glucose Biscuit Packs, peanuts, jaggery, sambar powder, turmeric, Ragi flour as it contains iron & calcium, double fortified salt to thwart iodine deficiency, Bengal gram or Desi chana for protein.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, closure of schools was inevitable. Children away from classrooms government and government-aided schools saw that access to Mid-Day Meal(MDM) was difficult. It is here it teamed up with the government and donors to distribute Happiness kits .

Equity index Nifty 50 crossed the 14,000-mark for the first time on Thursday. The index surged 8.2% from 13,000 to hit 14,000 in 26 trading sessions, starting November. Of these trades, the index has lost in only four of them as of closing on December 30.
Domestic equity market benchmarks BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading at record high levels ahead of the onset of the new year 2021. BSE Sensex hit an all-time high of 47860.3, while the broader Nifty 50 index crossed the crucial 14,000 level.
Nifty has risen nearly 90% from its 52-week low of 7,511 which was recorded in March 2020 when pandemic struck in India. As of December 30, the index gained 15% this year, recording its best annual return since 2017.

Market closing
Indian benchmark equity indices ended higher on Monday for fourth straight session tracking positive from global markets. Sensex ended at 47,353.75, up 380.21 points or 0.81%, while Nifty settled 123.95 points or 0.90% higher at 13,815.15.
SBI closing over 3% higher, was the top gainer followed by Titan, L&T and IndusInd Bank. HUL, Sun Pharma and Dr Reddy s were among the laggards. Of 30 Sensex shares, 26 closed in the green.
