Summer drop-in COVID-19 testing schedule announced for University Park

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. With students remaining on campus for Maymester and the beginning of summer classes, Penn State’s COVID-19 Operations Control Center has announced the schedule for drop-in COVID-19 testing at University Park through late June. This is in addition to the required weekly testing that students in residence halls must complete if full vaccination status is not provided to the University.
The specific dates are as follows:
May 10-28: Hours and days reduced at Hintz Family Alumni Center and Pegula Ice Arena walk-in clinics to 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
May 13-15: Pegula drop-in testing will be closed due to the Walmart second-dose coronavirus vaccine clinic.
May 31: No drop-in testing will be available due to Memorial Day.
Starting June 1: Hintz testing site closed; drop-in testing at Pegula only open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Students living on or near campus throughout the summer are encouraged to be tested regularly, according to the release, and all students still living in residence halls are required to be tested weekly.

Penn State COVID-19 dashboard updated with testing data through May 6

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. Penn State’s COVID-19 dashboard has been updated to show the results of University-provided coronavirus testing at all campus locations through May 6. Over the last seven days at University Park, 1,663 total tests have been administered, resulting in 55 positive cases, for a total seven-day positivity rate of 3.3%. This includes 52 student positive results from 1,580 student tests performed (3.3% positivity rate) and three employee positives from 83 employee tests (3.6% positivity rate).

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State’s COVID-19 Operations Control Center (COCC) has developed a comprehensive COVID-19 mitigation strategy for the transitional month of May and the summer 2021 semester for all campuses that includes vaccine consideration, masking, testing, contact tracing, and quarantine and isolation.

Between Friday, April 23, and 3 p.m. on Friday, April 30, the university administered 4,298 tests to students and employees about 1,000 fewer than last week.
Over the past week, Penn State’s total positivity rate for the semester (or since December 19) remained steady at 2.8%. About 2.6% of tests administered this week returned positive results.
Forty-six students are currently isolating at Penn State’s Eastview Terrace complex, while 18 are quarantined there. The university is using about 16% of its 400-room capacity. Last week, 17% of rooms were in use.
Penn State has administered 94,856 COVID-19 tests to University Park students and employees this semester, resulting in 2,659 positives.
The university’s COVID-19 Dashboard also incorporates figures from student-athlete testing and any tests taken by those who remained on campus over winter break.
