Things aren t great at the moment for Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey, who continues to take heat  this time on HBO s Last Week Tonight for his false claims about the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.  On Sunday night s season premiere of the political comedy series, host John Oliver weighed in on the impeachment trial and acquittal of former President Donald Trump. Surveying the support for Trump that continues to exist in the GOP, Oliver slammed Shirkey s recent comments that the Capitol insurrection was a hoax and that it wasn t carried out by Trump supporters.
