TAMPA â Lawmakers in Hillsborough County and beyond are expressing concerns about financial problems in the Hillsborough County School District, and possible consequences from the state.
While there is no evidence that the state plans to take any action, a conversation between two lawmakers appears to have prompted a Zoom meeting on Tuesday with more than a dozen participants.

TAMPA, Fla. - The Hillsborough CountySchool District says they are trying to make sure students are properly fed during the winter break and, for the first time ever, they will provide free meals over the holiday stretch.
Each Winter Break Meal Bag will contain 14 meals enough to feed one student breakfast and lunch for seven days, school officials said. In order to get a meal bag, parents and guardians had to make a previous reservation online.
The meals will be distributed starting Monday through Wednesday from noon to 7 p.m. at the Silo Bend Distribution Center in Tampa.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. For the first time, the Hillsborough County School District will provide students with free meals over Winter Break, with Student Nutrition Services launching Winter Break Meal Bags.
Each bag contains 14 meals, which is enough food to serve breakfast and lunch for seven days for one child, according to the school district. This pandemic has created a financial hardship for many families, Superintendent Addision Davis said in a statement on social media. As such, parents may be challenged with providing nutritious meals to their children while they are away from school during the holidays.
