Attorneys for the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) filed a motion to intervene in two lawsuits challenging the measure. The elections law ( SB 90) was one of the most controversial issues of the Legislative Session, with Democrats and voting-rights groups arguing that it would place undue burdens on voting and would disproportionately harm Black, Hispanic and disabled voters. Newsome, which stated “political parties usually have good cause to intervene in disputes over election rules.”
