Watson College recognized for ongoing efforts to promote diversity, inclusivity in their program

The Watson College of Engineering and Applied Sciences has received the Bronze-level award for diversity, equity and inclusion from the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).
The Bronze level, the highest level that was awarded by the ASEE this year, recognizes a university’s excellence in inclusiveness among engineering programs. Elizabeth Kradjian, assistant dean for strategy and external affairs in Watson College, said the college being recognized with the award has been an honor given the initiatives they have taken.

SAN FRANCISCO, March 8, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Girls in Tech, a global nonprofit working to erase the gender gap in tech, calls upon organizations to commit to gender parity in their boardrooms by 2025.
Half the Board: 50/50 by 2025 asks organizations and individuals to commit to taking action to ensure women comprise at least 50 percent of corporate boards in the technology industry. The campaign launched today as part of the organization s efforts supporting Women s History Month and International Women s Day.

The community is invited to celebrate Women’s History Month this March with Missouri University of Science and Technology. Participants must register to attend the events online at sdi.mst.edu/upcoming-events. The following events are a part of the campus celebration taking place throughout the month. Women’s History Month Kickoff: 11 a.m.-noon Monday in the Havener Center atrium, and 2-4 p.m. Monday at the Diversity House, located at 605 W. 11th St. on the S&T campus. Join the Society of Women Engineers to celebrate the history and cultural impact of women.

Where are you working? Title? I ve accepted an engineering position at Boeing in the Research and Technology Division within the company’s Space and Defense Organization. I start in August 2021.
How did you get your job? My time as an engineering student at FIU helped me land an amazing job at Boeing months before I am set to graduate. During my first year at FIU, I worked at the Applied Research Center (ARC) in the Composites Laboratory, under the guidance of Benjamin Boesl and Dwayne McDaniel. It was a great learning experience that first exposed me to engineering concepts.
