CHESHIRE, Mass. The Hoosac Valley Regional School Committee accepted a donation of 20 Chromebooks from Berkshire Community Action Council and $1,000 from Walmart. We are grateful to get some more devices during this time, Superintendent Aaron Dean said at Monday s School Committee meeting. We are able to find resources from a number of different places. With remote learning, the district is dependent on students having access to computers and the internet. Although many students have their own machines, the district has deployed a fleet of Chromebooks so education can continue for all students. The School Committee also accepted the $1,000 grant from Walmart to be used at Hoosac Valley Elementary School.
ADAMS, Mass. The town will soon release another request for proposals for the Memorial Building and looks toward possible future use during the pandemic. The Selectmen discussed the dormant former school building Wednesday and agreed that it was time to hold a subcommittee meeting to hash out the future of the former middle school. Now is probably a good time to put out the RFP again, Selectman John Duval said. There is still a lot of interest in the building. Multiple RFPs have been released over the years to no avail. Although there were plans to release one in the fall of 2020, the town decided to hold off while the COVID-19 pandemic was in full swing.
We have staff currently working in the space to support students with reading remotely and decided now was a good time to clean it out and utilize it properly, Superintendent Aaron Dean said last week. The cleaning of the space came up during a special Selectmen s meeting on Dec. 18. Selectman Robert Ciskowski asked about a trash roll-off near the cafeteria entrance of the school. I don t remember how much space we leased them, but they are throwing out stuff that is not theirs, he said. They had a date to take whatever they wanted and anything left was Cheshire s . I guess that is all just going in the Dumpster.
