KSOE Lands a 2.5-tril.-won FPSO Project from Brazil’s Petrobras
Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE) announced on May 11 that it has signed a 2.5-trillion-won contract to build one floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit for Petrobras, Brazil. The Korean shipbuilder will carry out the project together with Keppel Shipyard of Singapore.
KSOE will produce the hull of the FPSO with Keppel Shipyard producing the topside. The total contract amount for the hull is 850 billion won.
The FPSO is 345 meters long, 60 meters tall and 34 meters wide, and weighs 128,000 tons. It can produce 180,000 barrels of crude oil and 7.2 million cubic meters of natural gas a day.

As per the agreement, KSOE’s unit Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) will be responsible for the construction of two Suezmax for Sonangol Shipping.
Sonangol Shipping is a unit of Sonangol EP, Angola’s state-controlled oil firm.

Korea Offshore & Shipbuilding Wins Order For 8 Ships Worth KRW 835 Billion

Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, an intermediate holding company of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group’s shipbuilding, has won an order for eight ships worth a total of KRW 835 billion.
Korea Offshore & Shipbuilding recently joined shipping companies in Liberia, Oceania, and Europe, along with four 15,900 TEU-class ultra-large container ships, two 91,000 cubic meters (m³) super-large LPG carriers, and 40,000 cubic meters (m³) medium-sized LPG. It was announced on the 9th (Tuesday) that it has signed a contract to build one carrier and one 50,000-ton PC ship.

KSOE Bags Orders Worth 1.3 Tril. Won in One Week
A 318,000-ton VLCC built by Hyundai Heavy Industries is in test operations.
Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE), a holding company of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group’s shipbuilding business, are enjoying brisk orders at the beginning of the year.
KSOE has recently signed a contract with a European shipping company to build two 300,000-ton very large crude carriers (VLCCs) worth about 200 billion won, the company said on Jan. 12.
As a result, KSOE booked orders for 11 vessels worth about 1.3 trillion won, including six super container ships, one LNG carrier, one LPG ship, one PC, and two VLCCs, in a week since its first order of the on Jan. 5.
