The Huron Chamber and visitors Bureau held a Luncheon Thursday with the featured speaker, David Owen with the South Dakota chamber of commerce and Industry. The stop is one of 10 post legislative presentations throughout the state many Via video conference. Owen stays busy during the session as the chief lobbyist for the SD Chamber membership. Owen talks about what was covered at the luncheon.

(Photos from restaurant) An unflashy Clinton Township sushi restaurant that earns customer raves is expanding to Bagley Street west of downtown. Spring is finally here, with Goblin Detroit around the corner, the owners post on Facebook. The Goblin, a small shop in a Gratiot Avenue strip mall, last year began work on a second location in Sterling Heights. The newer one emerging at 2547 Bagley at 18th Street is on Mexicantown s edge in the Hubbard Richard neighborhood. The corner building was the home of Peso Bar from April 2019 until last November, and had been restaurants named Huron Room and Fists of Curry before then.
We wrapped up a series last Friday, the Daily DEX. A daily feature hearing from users of the beef barn complex on the SD State Fairgrounds and addressing the need to contribute to the Discover the Dex campaign drive of 4 million dollars. Part of that goal will include naming rights to the Dakota Events Complex, Jim White, chairman of the Discover the Dex committee, said they are close to announcing that named donor.
Additional funding amounts are 3 million dollars from the beef barn complex destroyed by fire October 31 last year. Plus 12 million dollars in one time funding from the State of South Dakota that will need legislative approval.

The Discovr the Dex campaign has a goal of 4 million to raise locally and statewide from users and contributors of the proposed Dex. Legislative approval of the state one time money of 12 million dollars would be more favorable if the State Fair Foundation was able to meet the goal. Remember the Huron Community Foundation and Greater Huron Development are matching funds up to $2000,000 dollar for dollar to the Dex fund drive campaign. Governor Noem proposed a 12 million dollar one time money offering that would be combined with 3 million dollars from insurance of the lost beef barn complex, destroyed by fire on October 31st last year. With 4 milion dollars from statewide users and contributors for the proposed Dakota Events Complex, knicknamed the DEX.
