Huron University College officials want to start handing out degrees that don’t bear Western University’s name a move that would alter the schools’ relationship after some 150 years.
Barry Craig, president of the 1,300-student Western affiliate, says he and other Huron officials are in consultations to remove “Western University” from their diplomas, a significant shift for its future students.

“We want to be autonomous with respect to our own degrees,” said Craig, Huron’s president since 2016. “When students graduate, at present, they get a Western degree.”
