Not every school district in Metro Detroit are ready to do that.
A group of parents spoke with Local 4 about what they think is best for their children. They acknowledged that Whitmer wanting to return to in-person learning by March 1 was a step in the right direction, but they still want her to do more.
“Giving that advice and that guidance, is definitely a great stride from where we were a few months ago,” said Jessica Mathiak, a parent of a Huron Valley Schools student. “We’d like to see more strength in that, rather than just a kind request to get our schools back and open full time and face-to-face.”

More than a hundred parents and children gathered outside the empty Huron Valley Schools administrative building Wednesday afternoon, rallying to encourage the district to open schools again for face-to-face instruction.
Many carried signs that read, Save our kids, open our schools, and similar sentiments, including a sign carried by Kurtz Elementary third-grader Joslyn Kozub, that stated Open our Schools, virtual SUCKS!!
Carla Kozub brought Joslyn and her three other daughters to the protest with one intent in mind. I really just want to see my children in school where they belong, she said. Districts around us still have face-to-face instruction. This (all remote) is unacceptable. It s stressful on working parents, and I don t know what single parents are doing.
