Congress prepares for major fight over voting laws in the wake of Trump s false fraud claims Jon Ward
Former President Donald Trump’s “big lie” about a stolen election may have been discredited over and over in the courts, and disgraced by the attack on the U.S. Capitol, but the corrosive effect of his dishonesty will linger on, complicating efforts to strengthen American elections.
One of the Democrats’ top priorities in the new Congress is a package of election reforms, including provisions that experts say would make it harder to cheat but easier to vote. Many of these provisions are ones that Republicans have historically resisted for ideological reasons. But despite Democratic majorities in the House and Senate, and their control of the White House, two huge developments over the past year will make it much more difficult for them to push through a voting reform package.

KARACHI:
On the day India celebrates the anniversary of its Constitution, the possibility of the country transforming into a Hindu Rashtra (state) appears stronger than its democratic and secular credentials.
“India is making meaningless attempts to drape an authoritarian regime in the trappings of democracy,” said Dr. Talat Wizarat, a noted scholar and former chairperson of the Department of International Relations at the University of Karachi.
The Left s War on U.S. History : Biden Bows to the Woke Left , Disbands the 1776 Commission
01-26-2021
Immediately after taking power, President Joe Biden revoked a recent Trump administration report that aimed to promote patriotic education about American history.
In an executive order signed last Wednesday on his first day in office, Biden disbanded Donald Trump s presidential 1776 Commission and withdrew a report it had released two days earlier.
Trump established the group in September to rally support from conservative voters and as a response to The New York Times 1619 Project, which has been slammed by several historians for its factual errors.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A recent study by The Center for Research on Education Outcomes at Stanford University, âEstimates of Learning Loss in the 2019-2020 School Yearâ researches the learning loss for the 2019-2020 school year.
âThe Center for Research on Education Outcomes (CREDO) at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University calculated the magnitude of student-level learning losses on behalf of nineteen our state education agency research partners. They are presented here at the state level to offer a comparative view of not only the size of the losses but the range of losses within each state.â
Slandering the 1776 Report
When the Trump administration created, via Executive Order, a 1776 Commission to promote “patriotic education,” it did not do so in a political vacuum. The Commission was established just two days before the November 2020 election, and was understood to be the administration’s response to the ideologically driven history promoted by the
New York Times’s “1619 Project.”
It is thus not surprising to see the
Times, whose corporate brand is heavily invested in the “1619 Project,” attack the 1776 Commission’s first (and only) report. In a tone of high dudgeon,
Times reporters Michael Crowley and Jennifer Schuessler described the report as “a sweeping attack on liberal thought and activism.”
