As 2021 nears its halfway point, home sales in the area are continuing to boom despite many things returning to pre-pandemic norms. All but one of local zip code saw a year-over-year sales spike for the month of May, according to the most recent data from the Houston Association of Realtors, continuing a trend that began in January and has refused to slow down. Four area zip codes (77018, 77007, 77009 and 77092) saw their May sales volume at least double compared to last year, while another (77008) nearly did so. Only the 77091 (Greater Inwood/Acres Homes) zip code saw a year-over-year drop. Many area markets saw a year-over-year spike in average home price, while median home prices were a mixed bag compared to May 2020.
