The Houston Independent School District is included on the list.
The district said it’s closed through at least Tuesday, which means no virtual or in-person learning. School officials are continuing their efforts to help thousands and work to get students back in the classroom.
Millions of Texans are still recovering from last week’s winter storm. On Sunday, HISD held a massive food and water distribution site with the Houston Food Bank at NRG Stadium and served around 5,000 families.
“Giving out water, it’s been a difficult week for us in Houston and the entire state, but I am so thankful for the nutrition service department being able to serve the community. We are giving out fruits, veggies, milk, water and protein,” said Grenita Lathan, HISD Superintendent.
The Texans helped Texans on Sunday.
With the region reeling from the effects of last week s winter storm, the Houston Food Bank partnered with the Houston Independent School District to distribute food at NRG Stadium. The event took place in the Blue parking lot, and Texans Chairman/CEO Cal McNair and Hannah McNair helped hand out food to 5,000 families throughout the morning.
In addition to the McNairs, several members of the Houston Texans Cheerleaders distributed food to families who drove through the south end of the property.
It was a large-scale, vechicle-only contactless distribution of food.
The Houston Food Bank annually provides 104 million nutritious meals in 18 counties across Southeast Texas.

A veteran educator from the Bronx recently claimed she was fired after she denied mimicking a salute to Black power from the 2018 film, Black Panther , during her superintendent meetings. Another veteran also made serious claims and said she was also targeted by Department of Education, Chancellor Richard Carranza. Both of them have sued him.
The Department of Education Chancellor is now stepping down after three controversial years, city officials said in a surprise announcement Friday, February 26, 2021. According to the DoE, his last day will be March 15 â and he will be replaced by current Bronx Executive Superintendent Meisha Ross-Porter. âItâs been an honor of a lifetime to serve as a chancellor and from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve your and my children,â Carranza said at a press briefing with Mayor Bill de Blasio.
