The dogs, which were found emaciated while suffering from extreme skin conditions and fungal infections, were found in at a home located at 14700 Almeda Rd. after BARC Animal Control officers conducted a sweep of a local neighborhood near Fourth Ward. Authorities said they had received several complaints of stray dogs in the area. Recognizing the severe conditions of the dogs, BARC transported the animals to the Houston Humane Society, where they have begun weeks-long medical treatment.

Harris County Precinct 5 said the animals were taken from a home on Ravens Fall Lane and Harbor Falls Lane late Monday night. Precinct 5 constables said neighbors had not seen the owner in three weeks and called for a welfare check. Constables said they found several dead cats on the windowsill. “Among the 35, there were 10 that was found dead,” Angelina Saucedo, Marketing Manager at Houston Humane Society said.

BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas – Over a dozen horses are now in the care of the Houston Humane Society after they were rescued from an abandoned property in Brazoria County. Several Brazoria County authorities and departments joined with the Houston Human Society to seize the animals that had been left on the land. According to a Facebook post, 18 horses were left behind by family and were severely dehydrated and underweight when they were rescued. “These poor animals have been neglected both emotionally and physically, lacking proper nutrition and veterinary care,” the Houston Humane Society said in the post. “No food or drinkable clean water were found on the scene. They are now safe and out of harm’s way.”
