Falls Kill Two Long Island Men in Separate Workplace Accidents January 22, 2021
A landscaper fell from a tree and a roofer fell from a building in two separate fatal workplace accidents Monday on Long Island.
Suffolk County Police said 51-year-old Vicente Oliver of Levittown was trimming a tree at a West Hills home Monday morning when a branch broke. He fell about 40 feet to his death.
Monday afternoon, 27-year-old roofer Hector Aranda-Sanchez fell from the roof of a business in Holbrook. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating both incidents.

A worker from Westchester died after falling off the roof of a Long Island business, police said.
The incident happened in Suffolk County on Monday, Jan. 18 at around 3:40 p.m.
Hector Aranda-Sanchez, age 27, of Peekskill, an employee of a Yonkers-based roofing company, was on the roof of Four Seasons Sunrooms and Windows, located at 5005 Veterans Memorial Highway in Holbrook, when he fell from the roof, police said.
Aranda-Sanchez was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was notified and is investigating.
