The health department announced that clinics will be held Wednesday, May 12, May 19th and 26th, from 8 to 9:30 AM at the County Health Department at 208 West Elm Street in Gladstone, Il. Both the Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson Vaccine will be offered at these clinics to residents 18 and older for no charge. COVID vaccine clinics this month at Henderson County, Illinois, Health Department

The Hawk Eye GLADSTONE, Ill. Health officials in Henderson County, Illinois, announced they will provide both Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines at no charge at walk-in clinics this month. The clinics will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, and May 19 and 26 at the health department, 208 W. Elm St., Gladstone, Illinois.  While this week s clinic is for ages 18 and older, Henderson County Public Health Emergency Response Coordinator Sharon Graham said the department could possibly have the two-dose Pfizer vaccine available for younger teens as early as next week.  The Food and Drug Administration on Monday approved Pfizer and BioNTech s request for emergency use of their vaccine for ages 12 to 15, allowing states to vaccinate middle-schoolers before school starts in the fall.

Henderson County Detention Center inmates get COVID vaccines through partnership From staff reports In a team effort Monday, the Henderson County Sheriff s Office, Henderson County Health Department and The Free Clinics vaccinated 55 of 152 inmates who requested to be immunized against COVID-19 while incarcerated in the Henderson County Detention Facility. Everyone incarcerated was offered the vaccine and nurses from the Health Department administered the first of two doses. Follow-up vaccinations will be administered in 21 days for those remaining in custody. For inmates being released before the second dose is administered, the county-funded, embedded navigator from The Free Clinics will work to ensure locations, times and informational follow-up is in place.

READY! kits with books, activities offered to incoming HCPS kindergartners Community volunteers put together 1,100 READY! kits full of kindergarten readiness activities Friday. Henderson County Public Schools and local early education partners are wanting to provide the kits to give incoming kindergartners tools they can use at home to prepare for their first year of school, according to a HCPS news release. The kits include books, crayons, clay, safety scissors, Unifix cubes and activity sheets. They will be distributed by each elementary school by the end of this school year.   HCPS also developed a three-part series of “Kindergarteners Can!” videos to provide an introduction to what school will look like. The videos are available on the district’s YouTube channel, website, Facebook and Twitter.
