Motor racing: Fun over, back to work for Elliott at Daytona 500 By Steve Keating
NASCAR: Xfinity 500
(Reuters) – There are perks that come with winning but perhaps the biggest is the freedom to try new things and NASCAR champion Chase Elliott enjoyed a close season indulging himself from racing on dirt tracks to featuring in the Disney/Pixar Cars franchise.
Since claiming the NASCAR Series crown in November, Elliott has been busy trying his hand at midget cars and dirt tracks at the Chili Bowl to getting behind the wheel at the 24 Hours of Daytona and assuming his Disney/Pixar role as Chase Racelott.

NASCAR’s endless pursuit of a mainstream audience has received a significant boost this coming season. There is a new team (23XI Racing) co-owned by basketball legend Michael Jordan and another (Team Trackhouse) co-owned by pop culture icon Pitbull. 23XI Racing has hired Bubba Wallace to drive its No. 23 and the Trackhouse No. 99 will be piloted by Daniel Suarez.
The discipline’s most popular driver (Chase Elliott) is its reigning and defending champion.
The division will compete on dirt for the first time since 1971 and there are several road course additions. In other words, there’s a lot to capture the imagination of a casual audience.

GM Defense has started construction on the facility that will build the company’s new Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) for the U.S. Army.
The ISV will be built at General Motors’ existing technical center in Concord, North Carolina. Renovations at the plant are expected to continue into early spring, with the production line set to start in April. GM Defense will build 649 examples of the new ISV at the facility and will have support for the production of up to 2,065 vehicles total with additional authorization over an eight-year period.
“This facility will enable us to meet our customer’s timeline for delivery while continuing our journey to bring commercial technologies and transformative mobility solutions to the defense market,” Tim Herrick, interim president of GM Defense, said in a prepared statement.
