Elliott and his Hendrick Motorsports team went for a splash and dash stop near the beginning of the final stage and were likely to end up two laps short on fuel to make it to the finish. Fortunately for Elliott, heavy rain brought out the second red-flag of the race and NASCAR called the race complete following the completion of 54 of the scheduled 68 laps.

Chase Elliott wins rain-shortened Texas NASCAR Cup Series road race

With COVID-19 restrictions rolling back in some states, NASCAR is getting ready to welcome back fans with no capacity limits. The Pocono Raceway will be one of the first racetracks this year to have no capacity limits for its double-header in June. Chase Elliott managed the slipping and sliding, the standing water and the poor visibility that made it hard for drivers to see just a few feet in front of them.
