It’s closer to 20 years, Smoke, and everyone still seems to be on that same kick, or at least everyone NASCAR most seems to care about.
Hendrick Motorsport teams up with GM Defense.
GM Defense, a subsidiary of General Motors, opened its new state-of-the-art production facility last week in Concord, North Carolina - just a two hours drive from the US Army s Fort Bragg. It also named its new president, Steve duMont, whose previous gig was 13 years at Raytheon Intelligence & Space. Last summer, GM Defense won a contract from the US government worth over $200 million to build 649 units of the next-generation Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV), which is based on the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2.
One of the key reasons why the ISV beat out proposals from rival defense manufacturers is because GM Defense said it could build a lightweight vehicle, something that ll be fast on the battlefield and can be transported there with ease by a Blackhawk helicopter. Enter Rick Hendrick and his company, Hendrick Motorsport.

2019 was a bit of a mixed bag for Larson and the Chip Ganassi Racing team. He broke a long winless streak with his surprising victory at Dover late in the year. Larson also registered a career-best sixth-place in the final driver standings after a deep drive into the Chase for the Cup. However, there were also some disappointments for the No. 42 Chevrolet team. Larson registered a four-season low in average finish (15.1) and a three-season low in terms of Top 10 s with 17. Laps led were also a three-season low with 529 total for the campaign. Once again Larson will be one of the toughest drivers in the top tier to predict for 2020. There s so much potential with this driver and team, but Larson seems to get in his own way at times. It s difficult to expect consistency from a driver who s given us only one consistent season in his six-year career.
Martin Truex Jr. dominates at Darlington for third win of season

Martin Truex Jr. won for the third time in the 2021 season Sunday when he captured the Goodyear 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina.
And a dominating win it was for the Joe Gibbs Racing driver as he led 248 of 293 laps. At times, his margin over the closest driver behind him was more than 10 seconds or a third of a lap at the 1.33-mile egg-shaped oval.
Truex s other wins this year were at Phoenix and Martinsville. No other driver has won more than once in 2021.
2008
The Hendrick Motorsports star took some major steps in 2019. Elliott nabbed three victories and four pole positions en route to his fourth consecutive playoff appearance. Unfortunately, he and the No. 9 Chevrolet team suffered a collapse during the second half of the playoffs and took an early exit from the Chase for the Cup. Still, Elliott s three victories tied a career-best mark, and his 601 laps led for the campaign set a new season-best mark for the young driver. A lack of consistency was really the only major hurdle for this driver and team last season. We believe they ll overcome that problem in 2020. We should see the 24-year-old driver continue to mature, and continue to improve to the point where Elliott becomes a major contender for the championship this season. We expect to see new career-best marks in wins, Top 5 s, Top 10 s and laps led for this driver and team.
