JACKSON, MI A man accused of fatally shooting another outside a Jackson AutoZone in 2019 is scheduled to appear before a jury in August.
Eiron Bankhead appeared before Circuit Judge Susan Jordan on Friday, May 14, for a pretrial hearing. Bankhead allegedly shot Kordell Brzozowski after an argument on May 18, 2019, at the AutoZone located on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

JACKSON COUNTY, MI Two people were injured in a Thursday night collision between a car and a motorcycle in Blackman Township, police said.
Blackman-Leoni Public Safety officers were dispatched to the area of Airport Road and Wayland Drive at about 8:38 p.m. for the crash, Director Mike Jester said.
A 2012 Buick, driven by a 36-year-old Jackson woman, had turned left in front of a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by a 37-year old Jackson man, Jester said.

JACKSON COUNTY, MI – As Jackson County was experiencing some of the highest rates of new COVID-19 cases in the nation, county leaders were considering ways to remove the top official responsible for public health guidance, email communications show.
Health Officer Rashmi Travis left her post leading the health department on March 19. Emails from County Administrator/Controller Mike Overton, obtained by MLive/Jackson Citizen Patriot through a Freedom of Information Act request, indicate the county Board of Commissioners may have considered forcing Travis out, if she hadn’t resigned.
Woman killed in head-on crash while passing in no-passing zone in Jackson County, police say

JACKSON COUNTY, MI – A Lansing woman was killed Wednesday night in a head-on crash in Henrietta Township.
Emergency crews were called at 9:20 p.m. May 5, to M-106 at Plum Orchard Road in northern Jackson County for a reported two-vehicle crash, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Police arrived to find one driver, a 41-year-old Lansing woman, had suffered fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Investigators determined the Lansing woman was going north on M-106 when she attempted to pass another northbound vehicle in a no passing zone and crashed into an oncoming vehicle going south, police said.
New layout, playground, renovations coming to Loomis Park

JACKSON, MI City officials are preparing for the redesigning of a northeast Jackson park.
The redesign of Loomis Park, in Ward 2 near Henry Ford Allegiance Health, is expected to happen in 2022. The Jackson City Council started the process by awarding a $187,710 contract for architectural design services to Jackson-based design firm Covalle Group Architects at its April 27 meeting.
Residents will notice a big change to the park’s layout once the redesign is complete. The parking lot off Edgewood Street, pavilion and playground will all be realigned so the Boos Center is more accessible from the street and parking lot., City Spokesman Aaron Dimick said.
