Dr Spiderman: Alumna is a superhero who wears a white coat

There are health care superheroes. Dr. Jennifer Thompson is both. Thompson, an alumna and third-year pediatrics resident at Nicklaus Children s Hospital, is also known as Dr. Spiderman. It started off as a joke in medical school. It was close to Halloween, and Thompson donned a Spiderman costume for a class project. Her classmates and her professor at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) loved it. Spidey leaped into action again during her medical school pediatrics rotation. Thompson and her alter ego were asked to help kids with IBD, inflammatory bowel disease, learn about their condition.

Q & A with David Dorcious the 2021 Kemper Award winner

The Robert Kemper Award for Professionalism in Medicine is awarded annually to a recipient who has demonstrated altruism, compassion and empathy towards patients, as well as respect for patients, faculty, staff members and peers. The award was created as part of the âMedical Professionalism Courseâ at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, directed by Eugenio M. Rothe, M.D. which teaches medical students how to practice, âThe Art of Medicineâ and is named in memory of Dr. Robert Kemper, who exemplified the highest qualities of medical professionalism until his life was cut short by Cancer. In 2001, Bob and his wife, Rosa, opened their office in Key Biscayne and built a thriving practice and his commitment to family friends, patients, and the entire community of Key Biscayne was unwavering. Dr. Kemper exemplified all of the qualities that one would hope to find in their doctors.

American Academy of Dermatology elects new officers, board members American Academy of Dermatology elects new officers, board members ROSEMONT, Ill. (April 21, 2021) The American Academy of Dermatology has announced the results of its annual election. The Academy’s new officers and board members will lead the world’s largest dermatologic society, representing more than 20,000 physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and medical, surgical, and cosmetic treatment of skin, hair, and nail conditions. These officers and board members, all of whom are board-certified dermatologists, will also hold the same position for the American Academy of Dermatology Association, a sister organization to the AAD that focuses on government affairs, health policy, and practice information.
